It has been such a long time, yet again, since I last posted here! I always make the promise to keep up with my blogging, but admittedly, I have a hard time following through. I am doing something differently this year though. Hopefully it works!
In my vlog above, I share my list of top five things to get yourself for the new year. If you are like me who still prefers reading posts, I have written down a quick recap of what to give yourself:
This is a must-have for me as I enjoy writing down my schedule. In 2016, I got myself this coloring book/planner. It has helped me a lot in keeping track of events and setting deadlines, especially for the dresses I make. Whenever I feel things are spiraling out of control, I go to my planner to see how much I have accomplished, and what else needs to be done. Aside from organizing my life, it has given me a sense of fulfillment.
2. Storage Bins
If there was one thing I have learned living here in the US, it is that it is a highly consumerist society! I know I would be getting myself several new things that I would have not imagined I needed, and that is why I am preparing as early as now in terms of how to store them. Most of these bins would be housing my fabric acquisitions, both old and new, while the others would contain my wigs and other accessories. It also helps that these bins have this dainty Parisian print on them. I would be able to use them as props for photos!
3. Practice/ Habit/ Regimen
The new year is perfect for trying out something new! In my case, I am going to incorporate some brightening steps into my Korean skin care routine. Of course, you could also try out a workout regimen, a healthy habit (like drinking enough water a day), or something as simple as smiling the moment you wake up!
4. Source of Inspiration
This is in relation to number 4, as reading can be a new habit to adapt this new year. However this fourth item can be something different for each and everyone! This new year give yourself a source of inspiration to keep you going for the rest of the year. I chose to get myself some books by Malcolm Gladwell, as they deal with the subject of success.
This is more of an idea, as opposed to a thing you could get from the store! Whenever the new year comes, we all make these resolutions to change for the better. Some of us make it, while others look forward to the next year to try again. What resolutions lack, and perhaps this also answers why we have a hard time fulfilling them, is the intention as to why we are doing them in the first place. For this year, let us then give ourselves an intention --- a purpose behind any resolution we wish to make for the new year!
